I found this site in a search that I did trying to look
up a certain type of tree:

A Warning if you plan to plant a "Bradford" Pear
tree:
The Pros & Cons of Bradford Pears
I planted a Bradford Pear, and had high hopes
for it. It was billed as a perfect curb tree on the
site where I bought it online.
About a 8 months or so after I planted it I went
out and it had a mysterious break in the main
truck of the tree-a bad one too. I thought some
evil person had snapped my tree, and was not
happy about it either. I tried to brace the tree,
and that worked for awhile, but it rebroke. It
didn't come out of being dormant this spring,
and I can see that the tree above the break is
starting to die.
I was looking online to try and replace the tree-
a not cheap tree at around $60.00 either-and
found this site page from "The Master Gardeners".
I believe that the Lord was speaking to me about
this tree, and answered a question of mine of
what might have happened to it.
After reading this site page I decided on planting
a Purpleleaf Sand Cherry instead from the Arbor
Day Foundation. I like this type of tree, and I
have seen some lovely ones.
