WHY is China monopolizing the Christmas Lighting Market?

I just want to say that there is something really wrong about not finding an American company that makes American made Christmas lighting.

I went to several stores, and on the internet and could not find any American made Christmas lighting.

I was told from one internet site I called that she did not even think any American companies make them anymore, and that all the lighting is from China and maybe Taiwan, would be much to expensive - costing thousands of dollars more - probably to make in the USA - and that all the lighting contained lead.

I didn't find a single strand from Taiwan.

My husband and I talked this over, and we have old lighting that we will put up for the time being.

Hopefully by next year we will be able to find lighting from the U.S., or from any other countries - like Canada for instance and I would even consider Mexico - even though I'm not entirely happy with certain things concerning either Canada or Mexico though. At least they are somewhat ok neighbors.

I'd even consider Russia - At least they appear not to be communist.

I put just about everything back last night at my local Family Dollar, because I found that almost everything I had put in my cart was from China to my dismay. (My dear husband reminded me to check, and I'm glad that he did.)

I'm not used to being in the habit as of yet to automatically check. (I'm getting better about it though.)

To top it off I'm finding that there are actually people that don't know why I'm not happy with Chinese imported/made products. Imagine that.

AND my granddaughter argued with me saying that it didn't matter where stuff comes from it is simply stuff - if you need it so what where it comes from- And she asked what bigger picture? She also told me she even listens to music, and doesn't really care about what is said in the lyrics - If she likes the music so what if the words are terrible.

We had a pretty good discussion about it - which we will continue to have.

I have not concretely decided to absolutely boycott all products made from China - just to simply avoid them whenever possible. I simply do not trust their products anymore. I'm finding that I don't need most - if not all - of what products I'm finding that is made from there. I can really do without them.

There is something wrong about not being able to find products made anywhere else - and having the sense of the products only made in one questionable place like this being forced on me.

I plan to write a letter to G.E., and I'll post that later on.
